Ripple opened Swell 2026 in New York on Tuesday, October 27, by expanding its partnership with Robinhood, which will settle institutional trades in Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger. Less than a day later, Moody’s gave RLUSD an A2 rating. Both pieces of XRP news are about the stablecoin first and the token second.
XRP trades at $1.33, up 2.7% in 24 hours, with $1.56 billion in volume and an $84.2 billion market cap.
So how much of a strong week for RLUSD actually lands on XRP?

What Did Ripple Announce at Swell 2026?
Three partnerships and a bank charter, all built around RLUSD. CEO Brad Garlinghouse listed them in a thread on Tuesday night, after opening the conference with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
- Robinhood: RLUSD is live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood and is due in the Robinhood app later this year. Ripple Prime gives Bitstamp lending and margin financing across about 20 assets, and Robinhood will run its treasury on Ripple Treasury.
- BNY: the bank now holds XRP and RLUSD for institutional clients on its Digital Asset Custody platform, on top of guarding RLUSD’s reserves. The two firms are only exploring tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger, not launching it.
- The bank: the OCC gave final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank on Monday.

Robinhood’s 28.6 million funded customers are the prize. Johann Kerbrat, who runs Robinhood Crypto, put the deal in one line: “Utility is what moves stablecoins forward.” Neither company has given volumes or dollar figures.

What does Moody’s A2 rating mean for RLUSD? It means Moody’s sees low credit risk in holding RLUSD. A2 is investment grade, five notches below the top Aaa, and P-1 is Moody’s highest short-term grade. The rating covers RLUSD issued by Standard Custody & Trust, Ripple’s New York-regulated subsidiary, on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s SVP of stablecoins, called RLUSD “the first stablecoin to have ever received an investment-grade Moody’s rating.” The reserves behind it are cash and short-dated U.S. Treasuries, mostly held at BNY.
A rating isn’t insurance, though: RLUSD is still not a bank deposit, and Moody’s hasn’t published its full reasoning.
XRP News On-Chain: How Much RLUSD Sits on the XRP Ledger?
Less than you might expect. A check of both blockchains on October 28 found 981.99 million RLUSD on the XRP Ledger and 1.598 billion on Ethereum, $2.58 billion in total. The XRP Ledger holds 38%.
The ledger’s total has barely moved since late August, when reports put it close to $1 billion. That is why Robinhood’s choice matters for XRP holders: settlement on the XRP Ledger burns XRP in fees and needs XRP for reserves, while settlement on Ethereum doesn’t touch it.
Ripple’s own XRP is still parked. The 1 billion XRP released from escrow on October 1 sits untouched in the two wallets XRPScan labels Ripple 10 and Ripple 11, 500 million each, and another 1 billion unlocks on Sunday, November 1.

XRP Price Analysis: Can XRP Clear Its EMAs After Swell?
Not yet. XRP trades at $1.3304 on Binance after gaining 1.7% on Tuesday, the day of the Robinhood XRP news, but it is still under its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) at $1.3602 and its 200-day EMA at $1.3708.
- The ceiling: $1.3602 to $1.3708, the two EMAs. XRP hasn’t closed a day above either since October 11.
- Resistance: $1.3992, the October 21 high, where the last rally stopped.
- Support: $1.2546, the October 24 low, close to the $1.2562 that held on October 18.
| Path | What has to happen | Next stop |
|---|---|---|
| Push higher | A daily close above $1.3708, the 200-day EMA | $1.3992, the October 21 high |
| Stall | Holding between $1.2546 and $1.3708 | More sideways trade under the EMAs |
| Slip | A daily close below $1.2546 | $1.20, the round number below |
Swell’s main stage opens today and runs until Thursday. The number to watch afterward isn’t XRP’s price but RLUSD’s supply on the XRP Ledger: if Robinhood’s settlement starts showing up there, the 38% share should start to climb.
