Key Takeaways
- Soloblocks.io recorded 36 solo-style Bitcoin blocks from Feb. 11 through Nov. 7, 2026, with rewards ranging from 3.1268 BTC to 3.1968 BTC.
- Solo Satoshi reported that a NerdQAxe++ Rev 6 successfully found block 974238, although that block is not included in Soloblocks.io’s dataset because it wasn’t a true solo block and the miner was leveraging Braiins non-solo pool.
- Entry-level mining machines can produce approximately 1.2 TH/s, compared with a Bitcoin network operating at 1,000 exahash per second (EH/s).
- At least 17 solo mining pools, services and configurations offer different approaches to chasing block rewards, including traditional solo mining and different types of shared-payout arrangements.
A Tiny Bitcoin Miner Takes on the Giants and Wins
Imagine buying a modest desktop mining machine, plugging it into a wall socket, and discovering that your little contraption has beaten an army of industrial competitors to a block reward worth 3.125 BTC plus fees. It sounds like winning the lottery with a ticket that never stops playing.
That is precisely the attraction of solo bitcoin mining, where ordinary enthusiasts compete against warehouses filled with specialized mining equipment. Most participants will never find a block, but every valid hash represents another microscopic opportunity to claim the prize.
On Nov. 5, 2026, Solo Satoshi, a retailer specializing in small-scale bitcoin mining hardware, highlighted another extraordinary discovery involving one of its customers.
“Block#974238 has been claimed. ANOTHER ONE of our devices has hit a block by a NerdQAxe++ Rev 6. This afternoon, a very early Solo Satoshi customer DM’d Kels so she could let the team know. Just a month ago, another person came to the store to tell us he found a block while running a Bitaxe Naja Duo and a NerdQAxe++ Rev 7. Both running Braiins fpps pool. Keep hashing. You never know when your hardware might be next!”
The announcement offers a compelling example of small mining hardware participating in successful block discovery. However, Braiins FPPS is a shared-reward pool, meaning the machines’ participation does not establish that their owners individually collected entire block rewards.
Three days later, the operator of CKPool Solo disclosed on X that an independent miner commanding just over half a petahash of computing power had successfully mined block height 974893. “Congratulations to miner bc1q~nljg for solving the 319th now lucky block at US East [CKPool Solo] with ~581TH of hashrate on a 564TH worker.”
The developer behind CKPool Solo added:
“A miner of this size has about a one in 35 chance of solving a block in a year.”
Following that block, hours later on Nov. 7, another solo block was discovered from a CKPool Solo mining participant. “Two lucky solo miners found blocks today on CKPool, just seven hours apart,” the mempool.space developer Mononaut wrote on Saturday.
Bitcoin’s 2026 Solo Mining Jackpot Reaches 36 Documented Blocks
According to Soloblocks.io data, bitcoin miners associated with solo-style operations discovered 36 blocks between Feb. 11 and Nov. 7. The recorded rewards totaled approximately 113.149 BTC, including transaction fees, representing a solid handful of mining prizes worth around $8.5 million today.
Using the current bitcoin price, individual rewards were worth approximately $236,500 to $241,700. Those figures represent gross block rewards rather than confirmed take-home proceeds, and pool arrangements can change how much any participant receives.
The earliest recorded discovery occurred Feb. 11 at block 936100 through the multi-coin mining pool Letsmine.it, paying 3.1529 BTC. February produced four recorded discoveries, followed by six in April, three in May, two in June, four in July, one in August, and one in September.
October delivered eight discoveries, while November accounted for seven through Nov. 7. The November concentration included four blocks on Sunday, Nov. 1, another on Thursday, Nov. 5, and the two CKPool Solo blocks that were discovered on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7.
The distribution also reveals an important qualification. Not every so-called solo winner was an ordinary hobbyist with a single inexpensive machine. The Soloblocks.io archive identifies some operations as small farms, including estimated hashrates of 153.7 petahash per second (PH/s) and 540 PH/s, substantially exceeding consumer mining equipment, yet small potatoes compared to today’s mega mining pools.
Public Pool’s five recorded discoveries, by contrast, were classified as home-miner jackpot finds. Three involved Umbrel nodes, demonstrating how independent mining infrastructure can participate without requiring an industrial operation.
Across the 36 discoveries, Soloblocks.io’s dataset attributes ten to a category labeled Solo Pool, nine to CKPool Solo, five each to Public Pool, Braiins Solo, and Parasite Pool, and one each to Futurebit Apollo Solo and Letsmine.it.
The Machines Behind Bitcoin’s Lottery Mining Craze
Bitcoin lottery miners span an extraordinary range of power requirements and computing capabilities. For instance, a Bitaxe Gamma 601 or 602 produces approximately 1.2 terahash per second (TH/s) while consuming 17 to 20 watts.
The NerdQAxe++ Rev 7, associated with Solo Satoshi’s previously mentioned X post, produces approximately 4.8 TH/s using four BM1370 chips. The Bitaxe Naja Duo 1201 offers approximately 4.4 TH/s at 42 watts, while the larger NerdOctaxe Gamma reaches roughly 8 TH/s.
Other contenders include Canaan’s Avalon Nano 3S, rated at 6 TH/s and 140 watts, and Futurebit’s Apollo II, with a claimed 6 to 10 TH/s operating range. The Apollo line also offers integrated Bitcoin node functionality, allowing users to operate more independently.
At the novelty end sits the Nerdminer, an ESP32-based device producing only kilohashes per second. It demonstrates the mining process but has effectively negligible chances of discovering a block.
The difference between these machines matters, but not nearly as much as newcomers might expect. Even a relatively powerful 10 TH/s desktop miner contributes only one hundred-millionth of the 1,000 EH/s powering the Bitcoin network today.
Under that simplified network assumption, a 10 TH/s machine would expect to discover one block approximately every 1,900 years. A 1.2 TH/s Bitaxe faces an expected wait exceeding 15,000 years. These machines are mere minnows in an ocean of industrial giants, dwarfed by today’s next-generation ASIC miners, some of which pack a staggering 1 PH/s of hashing power.
Those figures describe statistical averages, not waiting periods that miners must complete. Every attempt is independent, meaning a machine could theoretically find a block tomorrow or run for generations without success.
That mathematical absurdity is exactly what makes a successful home-miner discovery so fascinating.
Solo Pools Offer Different Ways to Chase the Prize
For enthusiasts unwilling to operate their own complete mining infrastructure, solo mining pools provide accessible entry points. Unlike conventional pooled mining, genuine solo arrangements generally award the successful finder the block reward, minus applicable fees.
The prominent CKPool Solo charges approximately 2% and accounted for nine recorded 2026 discoveries. Public Pool offers a zero-fee hosted option and accounts for five. Braiins Solo, which reportedly charges a 0.5% fee, is credited with five block discoveries this year.
Other choices include Atlaspool, Pool.bitaxe.de, Sololuck, Kanopool and Solopool.com. Some offer zero-fee arrangements, while others provide different server locations, mining protocols or payout structures.
The distinction becomes particularly important with hybrid services. Parasite Pool, for example, credited with five discoveries, has historically allocated a fixed 1 BTC to the finder and distributed the remainder among participating workers.
Nicehash Easymining offers another route through rented computing power rather than personally owned hardware. Meanwhile, P2Pool distributes rewards according to participating miners’ contributions, making it fundamentally different from winner-takes-all solo mining.
The Real Price of Chasing Bitcoin’s Jackpot
The attraction is obvious, but the economics remain unforgiving. At an assumed electricity rate of 15 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), a continuously operating 6 TH/s Avalon Nano 3S consumes approximately $184 annually in electricity.
You see, industrial-scale bitcoin miners often secure electricity rates of 7 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) or less, while ordinary households can pay considerably more, leaving everyday miners at a substantial economic disadvantage.
Using these assumptions, its probability-weighted annual reward is worth approximately $75 before pool fees and equipment expenses. A 1.2 TH/s Bitaxe produces an estimated $15 in annual expected rewards against roughly $26 in electricity costs.
These are statistical expectations, not dependable annual earnings. Most individual hobbyists receive nothing from genuine solo mining unless they discover a block. And that is precisely the kind of jackpot these everyday miners are hoping to hit.
For enthusiasts, the appeal therefore extends beyond conventional profitability. They are purchasing an opportunity, however improbable, to compete directly in Bitcoin’s block discovery process.
The Nov. 7 block height 974930 discovery captures that peculiar combination of engineering, astronomical odds, and extraordinary luck, where every hash is another roll of the dice in an ultimate lottery. Large operations possess overwhelming computational advantages, yet small machines can still participate in the same probabilistic contest. The odds favor the bitcoin mining giants, but the network’s lottery does not reserve every winning ticket for them.
